Architect Identifies $6 Mil in Modernization Needs at Malcolm

With Capistrano Unified looking at $822 million in repairs and upgrades districtwide, here's Malcolm Elementary's portion.

John S. Malcom Elementary School needs about $6 million in construction upgrades and renovations, according to the Capistrano Unified School District’s consultant, WLC Architects.

Of that figure, $2.9 million would be used to replace half of the existing portable classrooms with permanent buildings at the Dana Point campus. Another $946,000 would address routine repairs and maintenance the district has deferred over the last few years, including paint, floor covering, roofing and paving.

In 2009, the Rancho Cucamonga architect created the report, which was recently updated for 2013 pricing. The district is facing $822 million worth of needs and only has about $44 million on hand to address them.
