Architect: Laguna Niguel Elementary Needs $3 Mil in Upgrades

The Capistrano Unified's 55 schools are looking at $822 million in modernization. Here's Laguna Niguel Elementary's share.

Laguna Niguel Elementary needs $3 million in construction, most of that for renovations, according to a Capistrano Unified School District architect

Laguna Niguel Elementary's one of the smaller project lists for Capo schools. Of the total needed, almost $1 million would go to replacing half of the school’s portables. The school also has $132,000 in needs because of routine maintenance the district delayed, in painting and the fire alarms.

WLC Architects of Rancho Cucamonga created the list in 2009. The report recently updated with 2013 pricing. The district is facing $822 million worth of needs and only has about $44 million on hand to address them.

The updated numbers also include $558,000 to buy state-of-the-art technology for students.

Laguna Niguel Elementary does have some classrooms, however, which are smaller than 960 square feet, the minimum space required by state law.
