Coats For a Cause Continues After Christmas

Local hair salon is collecting coats for those in need through Dec. 31.

Christmas is still in the air in Laguna Niguel.

The folks at Salon 356 located at 27601 Forbes Road., Suite, 60 in the 3 Flags Center, has been working hard this holiday season to make things a little better, and a little warmer for those who are less fortunate.

Owners Kitti Bush, Patti Nicholls and Kristin Santiago, have been collecting gently used coats as part of the nationwide Burlington Coat Factory drive. Since 2007, Burlington Coat Factory has partnered with ABC’s Good Morning America and the national non-profit organization, One Warm Coat, on the annual Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Drive. Each year, Burlington stores nationwide collect gently worn coats that in turn are distributed locally to folks in need through One Warm Coat.

“We wanted to give back to the community and started the day after Thanksgiving,” said Bush. “We have had a great response; we've collected 56 coats so far.”

In return, the owners are offering clients 10 percent off in the boutique and a10 percent off at Burlington when they bring in a coat.

“We have collected leather coats, sweatshirt jackets, jean jackets, fur coats, bomber jackets, men's, women's and some for young people,” she said. “We've had people bring coats in that don't get their hair done at our salon, too.”

This is not the first year the women have given back.

“Every year try to we do something different. Last year, we had a food drive for Second Harvest Food bank,” Bush said. “Our wish is that we would all share our abundance this Christmas, and all year long to help those less fortunate. Help keep them warm, safe and fed.”

Coats may be dropped off at the salon through Dec. 31.
