The man who allegedly wore a gas mask while robbing a Starbucks last week was identified Monday as Kyle Kamal Starner of Laguna Niguel.
He was allegedly walking around Laguna while "extremely intoxicated," Amormino said. And "the officer noticed he was in possession of a gas mask when he stopped him."
Because Starner was already on probation for burglary and possession of stolen property, he is subject to search and seizure, and deputies searched his Laguna Niguel home Friday night, Amormino said.
There, they found a handgun and clothing matching the Swirlz robbery description, Amormino said.
He remains in custody, Amormino said.
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said the items found in Starner's home matched descriptions from the Starbucks robbery. They are believed to be from the Swirlz heist, authorities said.
