Older Woman Resents Help From Stranger

A rundown of calls that came into the O.C. Sheriff's Department from Jan. 8–9 in Dana Point and Laguna Niguel.

A caller wished for a welfare check on an older woman, who was pushing a laundry cart very slowly, and leaning on it to keep her balance. When the caller’s son asked her if she needed help, she responded she didn’t need to “bow down to his authority.” The incident occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 9:37 p.m. at the cross streets of Golden Lantern and Crown Valley Parkway.

Wed., Jan. 9:

Suspicious Person 5:56 p.m. 25600 block of Paseo La Vista. A caller reported a 30-year-old man with a goatee was walking with his arms behind his back and swinging them around near the pool behind the caller’s residence. The caller stated he was acting weird and appeared “drugged out of his mind.”

Battery Report 4:12 p.m. 29900 block of Monticello Street. A caller reported a bully assaulted her 13-year-old son at school.

Welfare Check 2:37 p.m. 27300 block of Alicia Parkway. A caller reported a 2-year-old was locked in a dark blue van in the Vons parking lot, and when she tried to get out she slammed her finger in the door. No parent was around.

Tues., Jan. 8:

Disturbance 8:23 a.m. Del Obispo Street/Pacific Coast Highway. A caller reported she was in a verbal argument with a woman, who accused her of stealing her jacket at McDonald’s. (Dana Point)
