A 53-year-old man out picking up trash near Badlands Park suffered leg and back injuries today when he fell into a ravine in Laguna Niguel, authorities said.

The victim fell 50 feet around 2:15 p.m. near Isle Vista and Channel View, behind Mission Hospital of Laguna Beach, according to Capt. Steve Concialdi of the Orange County Fire Authority.

Two OCFA urban search-and-rescue firefighters were lowered from a helicopter to the patient, who was hoisted from the scene and taken to Mission Hospital with a possible broken hip and leg injuries, Concialdi said.

"He was just one of those good Samaritans who was just out picking up trash … he was just out doing a good deed," Concialdi said.
