Man Found Sleeping Under Christmas-Like Tree Near Local Bar

A rundown of calls that came into the O.C. Sheriff's Department from Nov. 4-5 in Laguna Niguel.

A caller reported seeing a transient man with his pants down, sleeping under a Christmas tree-like evergreen in front of Hennessey’s Tavern. The incident took place at 1:35 p.m., Nov. 5, on the 34100 block of La Plaza. Employees at the bar said there are transients in the area at any given time. The tree is permanently located in the center of the plaza and is decorated every year for the holidays beginning in December.

Monday, Nov. 5:

Burglary In Progress 9:45 p.m. 34000 block of El Encanto Avenue. A man reported he witnessed a possible man, over 5 feet tall, with thin build and wearing light clothing, enter the laundry room of the location. The caller said he heard banging noises and believed the man was trying to break into laundry machines. (Dana Point)

Sunday, Nov. 4:

Suspicious Person 9:49 p.m. 0 block of Vittoria Street. A man reported his  had a welt on his forehead after visiting his mother.

Suspicious Person 9:25 p.m. Alicia Parkway/Pacific Island Drive. A caller reported a 50-year-old man with a beard, and wearing a hat, appeared to be unscrewing part of the fire hydrant on the northwest corner. The caller told authorities he last saw the man 2 hours prior to the report.

Stolen Property 1:59 a.m. 0 block Aruba Street. A woman reported someone allegedly stole her hubcaps. She last saw them on her car 3 hours prior to the report. (Dana Point)
