7 Tested, 8 Arrested in Laguna Niguel DUI Patrol

Extra deputies were put on patrol as they searched for drunk and drugged drivers in Laguna Niguel from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.

That night deputies stopped 50 vehicles in Laguna Niguel, according to statistics provided by the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Four drivers were arrested under suspicion of driving while drunk. One driver suspected of driving while high was also arrested. Three additional drug arrests brought the total number of arrested to eight.

In addition, three drivers were cited for driving on suspended licenses. One unlicensed driver was cited.

Deputies performed seven field sobriety tests in Laguna Niguel as well.

The "Avoid the 13" roving DUI campaign also included Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods and Aliso Viejo. In total, 88 vehicles were stopped. No arrests were made in the other cities.
