BLOG: Equal Rights for All but More for Some

Special emphasis in schools of contribution by gays versus everyone else sucks!

I read with disbelief in the OC Register that our state Congress is pushing our educational system to devote X amount of time to the contributions of gays to our history. My, my isn't that wonderful!

Next congress will push that the educational system teaches a section on people who were straight and what they contributed to history. Or maybe they'll decide that people who were from Lithuania need to be singled out for added exposure to our kids with mush for their brains.

Do you have the feeling that maybe the gays' recruitment drive may be running a little behind (oops watch that word) their desired goal.  Maybe they should just suck it up and be like other groups of people and not expect special treatment. You see, by providing this extra emphasis by way of education they are not being treated as equal. They are being singled out as special. I'd say precious but that would be over the top. If a person happens to be straight and makes a contribution to history shouldn't our kids learn about that person as well as anyone of any color, race, religion or sexual affinity. Or should the straight person's contribution be made less well know in favor of someone from a fringe group of people?
