An alleged hit and run driver who fled the scene early morning on Sept 7. in a 1998 black Nissan that took the life of resident Carlos Salas, 20, is still at large, police say.
In addition, Salas' autopsy has been completed and revealed that his injuries were consistent with the damage to the vehicle that police have in custody, authorities say.
"We recovered DNA evidence and are awaiting the results. We do not have a positive ID on the driver of the vehicle and so have no suspects at this time," said Orange County Sheriff's Spokesperson, Gail Krause.
Friends of Carlos Salas helped raise around $9,000 to help the family pay for his funeral, says a friend. The funeral was held on Sept. 14 in a private ceremony for friends and family.
Salas later died of injuries at a local hospital, according to authorities. There was a skateboard found near the scene.
