Kitchen Trends for 2014

Displaying your kitchenware will be trendy in 2014. The country cottage is no longer the only place where family and guests gather. The kitchen is becoming a focal point where family and friends get together whether it be in your country or contemporary kitchen.

Black countertops, open shelves, and glass cabinet fronts all have something in common. Laguna Niguel and Dana Point dream kitchens in 2014 will include these features.

Black Countertops

Zillow Digs is predicting black countertops to be the number one kitchen trend for 2014. Black counters in black granite and quartz will be in sophisticated kitchens next year. You can accessorize with dark barstools, pottery, and striped (with a little black) fabrics.

Why stop with the kitchen? Place your black counters in the laundry room and bathroom for stylish beauty.

Open Shelves and Glass Front Cabinets

Cabinets are no longer just a place to hide your dishes from your guest’s view. There is no need to limit yourself with open shelves either. They work well with any kitchen style: modern, country, or contemporary.

With glass front cabinets, let your imagination run wild. Again, why stop in the kitchen? You can install class cabinet doors in your hallway cabinets, bathroom vanities, or even your garage. Wherever you put glass doors, classy is classy.

Kerrie Kelly Design Lab in Sacramento, California, says, “Just be sure to focus on using only one or two materials.” She also suggests combining “vintage pieces with sleek colors for a chic storage solution in any living space.”

Darker Paint

Homeowners are looking at deep brown, black, dark red, and copper tones for their kitchen walls. Use caution when choosing darker tones, because dark tones can make a room appear smaller. Therefore, designers are suggesting just painting one wall with your new darker paint choices.

Whether you are planning to stay where you are or you plan to sell, kitchen trends of 2014 are about to get interesting.
