In Honor of National Pastrami Day, Why Not Take The 'Pounder Challenge?'

Looking to whet your whistle? Need to get your fill of some fresh, hot pastrami in honor of National Pastrami Day?

Well, there's a challenge you might be interested in if you answered yes.

 is offering the “Pastrami Pounder Challenge”at the store located at 27020 Alicia Pkwy. through Feb. 21. The chain is also celebrating Pastrami Palooza. 

Successful participants will be honored with a certificate stating they conquered the 'Pastrami Pounder Challenge,' and receive a voucher for a limited edition T-shirt. Winners will also have their picture taken which will be proudly displayed on the Togo’s Facebook page.

It may sound easy, but The Pastrami Pounder is two feet long and features more than one pound of Togo’s premium, hand-sliced pastrami.

Local resident Stephen Gregg, 27, said he and good friend, Spencer Steed, 26, will be taking the challenge.

"We’re entering the challenge as a friendly competition between friends. We saw the promotion and thought it’d be a fun challenge with bragging rights if one of us can actually finish the sandwich," he said. 

And while he has never competed in a food challenge, Gregg said it should be fun. 

"The sandwich has just over a pound of pastrami so I think I’ll be a little pastraimi’d out after the competition."

Togo's regular pastrami sandwich (called Number 9) has been a top-selling sandwich for years, with more than 1.5 million served annually.

Togo’s Pastrami Palooza online promotion also gives customers a chance to win free sandwiches for a year.
