Pei Wei Coming to Laguna Niguel, Swimsuit Company Marks 38th Birthday

Residents will soon be able to enjoy Chinese fare when the chain comes to town at Plaza de La Paz.

Residents will soon have a new place to whet their appetites once Pei Wei Asian Diner comes to Plaza de La Paz this summer.

According to Gerry Flanigan, vice president of real estate with the Horowitz Group, which owns the center located at La Paz Road, Pei Wei signed a lease to take up residence on Tuesday.

"We are very excited to have Pei Wei come to the center," he said. "They will be occupying 3,548 square feet in the former Cedar Creek restaurant space along with 319 square feet on the patio."

The 6,500-square-foot family-owned Cedar Creek restaurant closed its doors in June. It had been serving upscale meals to diners since 2008, but was gutted to make way for two new restaurants.

Since then, certain areas of the building have been demolished. The front retaining wall and the fireplace were knocked down last week.

Flanagan said there is a lease out for the remaining space.

Pei Wei is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the popular P.F. Chang's chain.

"They have a nice menu with a lot of choices," Flanagan said.

Swimsuit Company Has a Birthday

On the other side of town at Island Girl Beachwear, 28142 Camino Capistrano, owner Anita Schirmer said the shop that makes custom swimsuits is celebrating 38 years in business.

While ready-to-wear attire is available, custom handmade designs can be purchased. The store has a tropical feel and a wide variety of fabrics are available, including floral designs.

Schirmer said the shop offers items in stock and special orders in all sizes, from extra small to plus sizes. "Each swimsuit is handmade and sewn with love."

The shop recently won "The Best of O.C for swimwear 2011."
