Here Today, Gone ...

City offices and personnel are set to move in August from the old City Hall, their home since 1989. That means the complex will be ready for new tenants in October.

Since December 1989, the city's offices, council chambers and police services have been at 27781-27841 La Paz Rd. but will all move in summer to their new digs, at the corner of Alicia and Crown Valley parkways.

The city leases 24,606 square feet—consisting of six connected buildings—from Clippinger Investment Properties, which also manages the buildings.

"The target date for move-out is late August, early September," said Chris Cussen of Clippinger. "After cleaning, we should be able to be leased by October."

Costs range from $13.80 per square foot to $18 per square foot, and Cussin said all six buildings could be leased together or individually.

"We have a very serious possible tenant that is interested at the moment, and we've had some bites," he said.

The listing on LoopNet.com reads:

"The property is the current location of the Laguna Niguel City Hall. The offices are highly built out with excellent functionality. We have the ability to lease out the entire building to one tenant or to several tenants starting at 2,978 square feet. The building has ample parking with direct access to the offices. The building is well landscaped with a large United States flag flying in front of the property. The building is owned and managed by a Laguna Niguel real estate management company.

Highly recognizable location in Laguna Niguel, current Laguna Niguel City Hall. This building is one mile from the 73 Transportation Corridor and near the largest shopping center in Laguna Niguel (Home Depot). This location has high traffic with direct access to parking. The building draws traffic from all of South Orange County as it is located on La Paz Road which connects to the 5 Freeway and Crown Valley Parkway."

The building went up for lease in early May, Cussen said.
