Marios-by-the Sea Gone

Mario's by The Sea Italiano Ristorante, a long time favorite located in the Ocean Ranch Village center on the Dana Point side of Golden Lantern and Camino Del Avion closed its doors a few weeks ago after more than two decades.

Shea Properties that manages the center confirmed that Mario's located at 32545 Golden Lantern St., since 1989 has closed. However, Shea was mum on why the popular neighborhood haunt disappeared unexpectedly.

"We don't comment about our specific arrangements with merchants. The Ocean Ranch center has always been and always will be attractive to retailers because of its desirable location and strong demographics. Unfortunately, from time to time, businesses do close. The retail business can be tough, especially in challenging economic times like these," a spokeperson for Shea said.

Mario's by The Sea specialized in Southern Italian cuisine such as seafood pescatori, linguine with clams, and mostacolli a la vodka with chicken.

New Pet Place

Construction at the Alicia Pacific Veterinary Center is moving along and is expected to open soon. The new pet center is located in the center at the intersection of Alicia Parkway and Pacific Park.
