The Holiday Lights Decorating Contest Now Accepting Entries

Residents are eligible to enter the annual contest held by the Laguna Niguel Parks and Recreation Department.

Is your home dressed to the nines in holiday decor? Is Santa displayed in some unsual way? Have you bribed your husband to hang 3,000 lights?

Yep, it is once again that time of the year for Laguna Niguel residents to go all out with the holiday decorations.

The Laguna Niguel Parks and Recreation Department's annual "Holiday Lights Decorating" contest is under way. Categories include: most traditional, best animation, most unique theme, best homemade holiday display, best display of lights and best display of lights and music.

Participants are competing for a chance to win a $25 gift card and a yard sign stating their victory.

The entry is completely free of charge and is available to all amateur decorators who want to express and showcase their creativity, and Christmas spirit. The houses must have easy access to the public and to the Laguna Niguel Parks and Recreation staff that will serve as judges.

All it takes to enter is to fill out the application form, return it to the Laguna Niguel Parks and Recreation offices at the 29751 Crown Valley Pkwy.

Let your imagination run wild and decorate away.

The deadline to enter is Dec. 5. Judging will take place on the Dec. 6 from 5 to 10 p.m.

After the awards have been handed out, a map will be available at the Laguna Niguel Parks and Recreation offices to those interested in seeing the winning decorated homes starting Dec. 9 through the Dec. 31.
