Grab & Go: Things to Do This Weekend, May 7-8

Great things are happening this weekend for parents and kids including Mother's Day projects.

Lots of fun things to do this weekend—and local, too—from listening to bands to remembering a little girl with a boutique. 

1. Friday, May 5, Sunset Serenades, Main Beach, Laguna Beach, 6:30 p.m.  The Tommy Davy Band (Gypsy Jazz) will give a free concert.  Grab your blanket and a picnic basket and take advantage of the view and weather.


2.  Saturday, May 6,  Mother's Day Boutique to support the ,  10 a.m.to 3 p.m. Bright Horizons/Early Exploration parking lot, 2015 Calle Frontera,  San Clemente. Get your last-minute Mother's Day shopping done and help support the Maddie James Foundation at the same time. More than 60 vendors will be available, with a portion of all sales going toward the foundation.  There will be crafts, music and food.   Visit maddiejamesfoundation.org for more information.
 
3.  Saturday, May 7,  Walk to End Alzheimer's, Doheny Beach, Dana Point, 7:30 a.m. to noon. Join the Alzheimer's Association for the walk and to unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions.  You can register online, start a team, raise funds or walk the 2- or 4-mile course (wheelchair and dog-friendly).  Free parking is available at Marco Forster Middle School. 4.  Saturday, May 7,  Free Kids Workshop at ,  9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  This weekend's free how-to workshop is designed for children ages 5 to 12.  This hands-on session is building a tulip planter, a perfect gift for Mother's Day.  Contact your local Home Depot store for more information.
 
5. Saturday, May 7,  free craft project at Lakeshore Learning,  11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 23501 Avenida de la Carlota,  Laguna Hills.  Celebrate Mother's Day by creating a pretty purse for Mom.  Call 949-462-9353 for more information.
