Brooke Briggs Makes a Musical Impact on Lives

Brooke Briggs helps families come together through the Music Together Program.

When Brooke Briggs enrolled her daughter in the Music Together program, she was immediately intrigued.

Music Together, developed in 1987, teaches babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergartners, first and second graders, and adults to immerse themselves in the musical world.

The program believes that children learn best from their parents or caregivers that make music. It brings families together by providing a wonderful musical environment and encourages them to participate in musical activities outside of class.

Music Together also aims to teach children to make music rather than hear it from CDs or television, and it hopes to help families receive pleasure and learn from informal musical experiences.

“From the first class I knew the program was special,” said Briggs. “The Music Together program was supporting my daughter's development and giving us a musical connection that we started to live by and incorporate into our day to day activities.”

So, she decided to be a good musical role model for her daughter and began to be more involved in the program.

Briggs always loved music and was involved in choirs growing up. But, it was Music Together that inspired her to learn to play piano, guitar, auto-harp, and become a lead singer in the kindie rock band, “The Steppin’ Stones.”

Most importantly, it led her to become a Registered Music Together Teacher and Director in 2009; her business name is Magic Steps Music. Briggs currently teaches over 100 families at the .

“It is so rewarding to see all the children grow musically in my classes and I feel very fortunate to share this amazing program with my community,” she said.

Not only does she positively impact her students, but the Music Together Program also continues to deeply, and positively, affect her.

“It was Music Together that gave me a musical bond with my daughter that I would never have had. It was this program that made me into the musical model that my daughter will remember for the rest of her life. A model that would never have existed if it weren't for my life changing experiences in Music Together.”
