Local 'Hockey Mom' Convicted of Sexual Assault

Kathia Maria Davis, 45, of Laguna Niguel, was found guilty of four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor on Thursday.

Kathia Davis, the local 45-year-old known as 'hockey mom' was convicted of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy who played on the hockey team of her teenage relative.

Davis was found guilty by a jury of four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse for John Doe No. 2 and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for John Doe No. 2 and Jane Doe No 1.

She faces a maximum sentence of five years in state prison based on this conviction. The jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on four felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 for John Doe No. 1, one misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for John Doe No. 3, and a sentencing enhancement allegation for substantial sexual conduct with a child for John Doe No. 1.

When contacted by Laguna Niguel Patch about the verdict Walker said: "The People are very happy that Defendant was found guilty of the charges for John Doe No. 2 and taken into custody today.  We look forward to the retrial in November to get justice for John Doe No. 1."

Davis is accused of meeting 13-year-old John Doe No. 1 and 16-year-old John Doe No. 2 through her male relative's hockey team.

On one occasion between April 30, 2005, and April 29, 2006, Davis is accused of letting her relative and John Doe No. 1 drink alcohol in her home during a sleepover. After two of the defendant's teen relatives fell asleep on the floor of the room they were all in, Davis is accused of sexually assaulting the victim by kissing and masturbating him.

On four occasions between July 1, 2010, and July 31, 2011, Davis had unlawful sexual intercourse with John Doe No. 2 at her home in her bedroom. Davis also gave John Doe No. 2 alcohol.

On one occasion, Davis encouraged John Doe No. 2 and a teen girl to drink alcohol during a party in her home. She is accused of encouraging her teen relative, John Doe No. 3, to drink at that same party.

John Doe No. 2 told his mother about the unlawful sexual contact and alcohol consumption with Davis, and the Orange County Sherriff's Department was subsequently contacted, which led to their investigation into the sexual assaults.

Davis' lifetime sex offender registration will bar her from entering County recreational areas and City parks which have passed the Sex Offender Ordinance. 

Davis was acquitted of one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and the jury hung on four counts alleging she performed lewd acts with a then-13-year-old boy.

Davis is scheduled for the re-trial and sentencing Nov. 5.
