Man Shot by Police in Laguna Niguel Identified

A 21-year-old was shot and killed after allegedly stabbing his mother, roommate and a sheriff's deputy.

The man shot and killed by a deputy Tuesday night was Connor Bishop Zion, 21, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Chandon around 7:30 p.m. following reports of people being stabbed with a knife, the department said in a statement released Wednesday.

After Zion attacked and wounded both arms of one deputy with a knife, another deputy shot and killed the attacker, the department said.

Zion's mother and roommate also suffered stab wounds. All three with stab wounds were treated at a local hospital.

The deputy sustained serious not non-life-threatening injuries, the department said.

The Orange County District Attorney's office is conducting an investigation, as is the protocol in OCSD deputy-involved shootings.
