Mountain Lion Spotted in Laguna Niguel

A rundown of calls that came into the O.C. Sheriff's Department from Aug. 12–Aug. 15. The following arrest information was supplied by the O.C. Sheriff's Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Residents reported seeing what they thought was a mountain lion walking around the landscape between Bear Brand and several backyards. The animal was reportedly two feet by four feet and had a long tail. The incident took place on Tues., Aug. 16, at 7:06 p.m.

Suspicious circumstances 9:10 p.m. Monday. 28200 block of Rancho Grande. A caller told police that several juveniles were toilet papering her neighbor’s house.

Battery report 2:29 p.m. Monday. 24700 block of Oxford Drive. A woman reported that her 14-year-old son was assaulted by another 14-year-old at Chapparosa Park. He also had his cellphone broken.

Suspicious  person 12:00 a.m. Monday. La Paz Road/Avila Road. A man spotted someone he thought hit his vehicle on the freeway a week before and then left the scene. The sighting took place at a local In-N-Out Burger.

Vandalism in progress — arrest made 9:59 p.m. Sunday. 24200 block of El Pilar. Police received a report about an individual throwing mud and rocks at a local residence. After authorities responded to the scene, an alleged assault and battery took place. As a result, a 21-year-old student was arrested. She was later released after posting bond.

Vandalism in progress 4:06 a.m. Sunday. 27800 block of Forbes Road. A man reported that two or more individuals broke tables and chairs at his location and then ran away.

Vandalism report 1:07 a.m. Sunday. 30000 block of Tessier. A local citizen phones police to report that they arrived home to find six vehicles on the street with graffiti on them.

Pedestrian check — arrest made 9:23 p.m. Saturday. Street of the Golden Lantern/Crown Valley Parkway. A 20-year-old man was arrest after police conducted a probation search. He was jailed on $20,000 bail.

Missing adult 7:37 p.m. Saturday. 24700 block of Cutter. Authorities received a report of a missing individual. The caller’s missing 29-year-old daughter was later located.

Burglary report 9:17 a.m. Saturday. 30000 block of Monteras Street. A resident’s vehicle was stolen from Villarente Street and La Portero Street.

Vandalism report 3:58 a.m. Saturday. Greenfield Drive/Crown Valley Parkway. A rock was thrown at a man’s vehicle’s windshield while he was inside a  local Chick-fil-A restaurant.

Pedestrian check 9:25 p.m. Friday. Niguel Road/Crown Valley Parkway. Authorities arrested a 50-year-old laborer after conducting a pedestrian check. The man was later released.

Welfare check 5:16 p.m. Friday. 28900 block of the Street of the Golden Lantern. Two small children were left unattended in a black landcruiser.

Burglary report 2:59 a.m. Friday. 0 block of Redondo. A vehicle was reported stolen.

Citizen assist 10:28 a.m. Friday. 24500 block of Los Serranos Drive. Police received a call about a local citizen’s house being egged the night before.

Assist outside agency 5:21 a.m. Friday. 28500 block of Rancho Grande. Orange County Fire Authority responded to a report about a 57-year-old man who was struggling to breathe.
