I was lucky to have met Annette a few times. She was a very warm and considerate person to everyoneRead More she came in contact with. Her smile lit up the room. May she RIP.

Rest In Peace, Annette. You fought the fight with dignity and grace. The victory is yours. You willRead More be remembered always.

Tina, I have not visited the site for a while and I see that you are still making it your personalRead More forum. That is unfortunate, because you have violated the purpose of the site. This is not a place for theological discussion, for the putting down of other believers or condemnation of a family or their dead child. Please consider others in your discourse.

Scott Raftery was a delight to work with. He did not insulate himself in a press box, but would meetRead More the people and athletes he worked for. He was also a pro, and really "got it." At one of his first softball finals as an administrator, a coach from El Modena acted like a jerk, totally didn't get the "Pursuing victory with honor" mantra of the CIF; as I recall the incident, Raftery fired off a letter to inform him and his principal that if he didn't clean up his act, he wouldn't be allowed back. The Southern Section office lost a champion.
Brenda February 25, 2013 at 03:30 pm
RIP Mr. Rafferty. Far to young to loose you and we must work harder to find a cure for cancer.
rfirefly February 25, 2013 at 12:37 pm
Sounds like a great guy. RIP Mr. Rafferty.

Alleged ? Really, lets stop with the political correctness....He flat out murdered them in coldRead More blood. He is no hero, he was a coward and deserved the ending that he reaped in the mountains...Respect those who were his victims including police officers and innocent people who were the victims of this sociopath. Thanks

What a disgusting discourse on a nice old lady's passing. She had nothing to do with the President'sRead More mis deeds. If you can't say anything nice about someone, in death for God's sakes, then just be quiet. You must be a very unhappy person.

Just for the record, I am not a liberal, Amerikanish. In fact, quite the opposite, friend. I justRead More hate liars and crooks, regardless of political affiliation. I am a rare bird in that regard. And I approve this message.
AMERIKANISCH January 20, 2013 at 04:15 pm
Nixon was actually very liberal. Affirmative action and bussing minorities to "white"Read More schools happened under Nixon's administration. Also, Nixon ended the Vietnam War- not soon enough, of course, but it was LBJ who escalated it to huge proportions. Of course, since he had a "D" by his name, he gets a free pass from this rather partisan and myopic crowd. Nixon is the Republican that liberals love to hate, but in truth he was rather liberal himself.
JustUs January 22, 2013 at 01:37 am
Not me. I think Moorlach's a jerk. You're "out of here" because you weren't able toRead More intelligently offer a counterargument to my previous comment. So long...........
Ginelle Dexter January 22, 2013 at 01:27 am
Yeah, and you all in the OC think Moorlach walks on water. He's of the same mold as Raabe. HowRead More much of the county's money did he waste on lawyers trying to fight a lost cause against the Sheriff Dept? Said my peice...I'm out of here.
JustUs January 22, 2013 at 01:02 am
I don't care if you were bonded with him at the hip at birth, Ginelle. Citron failed miserable atRead More his fiduciary obligation to the citizens of Orange County and should have done 5 years or more in state prison for his crimes. A man doesn't pled guilty to 6 felonies unless he has done something terribly wrong. And he was in charge of the public treasure, whether you like it not. Trying to pass off Citron's failings on another human being is totally wrong and a grave insult to the Orange County taxpayers. I understand that you probably had an emotional bond with Citron. We didn't and don't. All we know is that he hurt many people with his hairbrained investment schemes and should NEVER have been in a position of so much financial trust and responsibility. On top of that, he was very weird IMO.
Sue Westfall December 23, 2012 at 08:38 pm
If you didn't know Don you should not comment. He was a kind and generous man - was he perfect...no,Read More no one is. He took responsibility for his mistakes and paid dearly for them. He was always kind, loving and generous to our family and he had a rye sense of humor - we will miss him. May he rest in peace.

Kate Egan December 7, 2012 at 04:29 pm
Kevin and Kathy Egan Jack Mannix was the most kind, giving, thoughful person, not only with our manyRead More dogs and cats but to us as well. One of our 90 pound white labs, Blake, had grand mahl seizures that took years before being managed. One Saturday afternoon, of course his office was closed, Blake went into a seizure which would not stop. Many years ago, Jack gave us his home phone "just in case" which we called, the 1st and only time. As Kevin lifted Blake off the ground and carried him to the car, still seizuring, Jack answered. He told us to go directly to the Emergency Mission Viejo Animal Hopital because he could Meet Us there faster than his office from where he was at the time. Jack stayed with Blake most of the night, managing his care. His daughter had a dance recital that he also did not attend choosing to stay with Blake, and us. Blake lived 13 years thanks to Jack. Jack took our Cocolate Lab home one night to provide constant care. She also grew old with the love given to her by Jack. There was never any question how much he Loved dogs, once he told you about his Golden Retriever. His very special friend was with him from college years into his marraige and family. As Jack told stories about their years together, he had tears in his eyes. Jack Mannix was not only the most wnderful vet but he always made us feel welcomed as a friend. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family, Sue, and everyone who had the great privilege of working with Jack.
Anna Amarandos December 7, 2012 at 03:30 pm
Dr. Mannix cared for many of our family pets over the years and I am stunned and saddened by theRead More news of his unexpected passing. He was a great person, as well as a great vet. A very jovial man, but also very careful and thorough in his work. I always appreciated his penchant for research when it came to a difficult diagnosis or treatment plan. And he was open to patient suggestions, which says something about the man as well as the practitioner. It is insufficient to say he will be profoundly missed, but our words fall short at a time like this. -- Anna Amarandos

"Bigger than life" is almost an understatement when it came to describing, my friend JackRead More Mannix. Jack's charisma, intelligence, compassion and zest for life I would count as second to none. In our 30 year friendship, Jack taught me so much by deed and example, carried me through tough times and above all, was my closest and dearest friend. As a "Brother of the River," Jack and I travelled to many 'once in a lifetime' fly fishing destinations. Ironically, we concluded once that we must be having more than our share of 'lifetimes'. I guess we just surmised that, as a vet, some of those feline nine lives must have rubbed off on him. Jack led life to the fullest and while I remain stunned for losing him so soon, I rejoice in the many memories of being one of the privileged to have been embraced in his incomparable life. My heart goes out to Liz and her family for their loss. Words cannot even begin to describe the deep and profound sorrow I share with them. I believe Jack always knew that he could count on us to be there for his family.

I rarely see any arguments that are very strong to support the sex offender registry or these kindRead More of laws. I believe it's because of the facts and common (not so common) sense. It's hard for a position to stand when the argument is based on what-if possibilities and emotions when reason and facts are in total opposition. TRUTH
Dan Avery December 20, 2012 at 03:07 pm
Actually, Chris, where I was going isn't where you think. What our society does with anything itRead More doesn't understand is simply lock it up, or try to make it disappear. We are talking about sick individuals who have always been with us since the day we crawled out of the slime. We still don't have a clue as to what drives them. And we should. Understanding something like this wouldn't be that hard if we put our collective minds to the task and applied some common decent humanity as we studied the problem. In other words, the "Scarlet Letter" approach you keep pitching doesn't work, it has never worked, and it will never work because it's simplistic, hollow and cruel.
Dan Avery December 20, 2012 at 03:01 pm
Well said. Especially the last sentence. The DA's "sidekick," as you've calledRead More Councilwoman Schlicht is as simplistic as this law. If you live in Mission Viejo you really need to become acquainted with her by visiting http://protectmissionviejo.com. Oh look, they decorated the site for the holidays!

Did you watch a lot of television growing up?
mocker November 24, 2012 at 06:30 pm
I am moved to tears by this mans passing. He portrayed a good guy, falling all over genie trying toRead More control her next ill informed move yet never succeeding. Yet never giving up and never tiring of the girl he loved. I relate to that. He was able to portray a man who could live w/o controversy or enemies and yet have to hide so much from those who were looking a little to closely. On the other side was JR Ewing. A soap opera in prime time. ??...it single-handedly ended my watching network tv on a regular basis. As a young adult, I was able for the first time to make my own decision to break away from mind numbing network programming. Then came HBO and cable and I never went back. Only today with the very sad news of the death of Larry Hagman, was I finally informed who really shot JR. I already forgot or I would tell you. I hope his next mission with Major Healey is a good one. You don't find a jeanie like Barbara Eden every day. Luckily its a grand cosmos.

A few years back it was DDT. The liberal environment people convinced forward thinkers like theRead More ones backing Prop. 37 to come out against DDT. As usual the people who suffered the most were the ones least able to protect themselves. Many have died in third world countries because all the smart people came out against DDT. Now you have these same people going after GMO. Keep coming up with all these dangers and eventually you will make food a scarce item. Living in abundance is not an accident. If you outlaw everything that protects crops eventually we will reduce the abundanced we have. If people regect GMO foods, competitors will advertise they are GMO free and we don't pay for another government agency to save us. Trust yourself not the some bureaucrat. Jasper, Prop. 32 is not backed by a business. Prop 32 stops big business and Unions.

"Every time we turn to the government to "protect us" we increase the cost ofRead More government and decrease the amount of liberty we have. " read about New England Compounding Center and how NOT having government regulation can kill you. Oh, and if you want to know how they didn't get regulated... try reading on how they were successfully lobbying for even looser regulation. Scott Brown (R-MA), one of 10 senators to sign a letter asking the FDA to loosen regulations on the drug compounding industry. Raw Story (http://s.tt/1rS8s)"

I met Bill when he first arrived from Texas. We were never girlfriend boyfriend just good friends.Read More We would go on walks three times a week. I remember before the St. Regis Gold course was complete they had security on the premises it was dark at night and we both got lost on our walk on the golf course that night we were lucky the security guard did not aim and fire. It was so funny and we laughed so hard about this particular event. Yes, Bill was a big guy and I was just a little thing also into body building at the time. When we would do our walks on the beach people would stare probably thinking that I never eat and Bill spends his time in the gym 24 hours a day. Bill was breaking up from a lady in texas he had been seeing for sometime and there were complications with the relationship but I know that Bill was struggling and hurt because he wanted this person to be with him so much it could of been his love of his life at that time. Bill kept his emotions to himself never ever showing anger or upset. Bill was a sweet heart and always will be in my heart. Rest well my friend I understand your challenges that you overcome in life I wish you had called me. Bill you are home now. God Bless

I am so sad to hear about Bill's passing. I will always have the image of this huge guy on a spinRead More bike taking Kristi's spin class. He was so kind and will be missed by so many. Jill

For years I trained with kristy at the sweatshop doing Spin and Pilates but I needed more and that'sRead More when I discovered Headlands gym and began training with Big Bill. Over time it became apparent to me that Kristy and Bill had so much in common they should meet. It has always given me great pleasure knowing that I was responsible for bringing them together. I was shocked to hear Bill had died so tragically and my heart goes out to kristy who must be devastated. Bill was a highly intelligent yet humble individual with a lot of vision. He was friendly and knew no strangers. It saddens me that he was in so much pain and I hope that he is at peace. His life improved mine and I am a better person for having known him. Francine

kristy armijo December 11, 2012 at 01:19 am
Kristy Armijo Kristi is one of my dear friends, and pilates instructor. Since Bill's death, I amRead More blown away everytime I see her by her strength. Although Bill's death was so tragic, and it is heart breaking and troubling to know that someone could be in such a miserable state, I am grateful for Kristi's strength and courage to enlighten us regarding steroid use, and the detrimental long term side effects. I am a single mother of two very talented athletes, both boys, ages 11 and 5. My older son has been playing sports since he was 4, and has always been one of the mvp's of what ever sport he is involvede (football, lacrosse, soccer, etc.) . Now my youngest is showing the same ability on the soccer field. Although they are both on the tall side, they are both extremely lean, not thick at all. It is my fear that once sports become more competitive in high school, they face the pressures of steroids, or other related substances in effort to enhance strength and muscle mass. I believe that somehow great things come from tragedy, and I hope to see Kristi's story regarding Bill to be an educational tool to those who aren't aware of how life threatening steroid use can be, and the life long effects it will have on one's well being, not to mention fatal. I am so sproud of her strength, yet so sorry for Bill's pain, and Kristi's pain as she is left behind.

Mr. Morrow, I did not lie to you or anyone else and GOD knows that. I stopped the full payment of myRead More son Frank's services, because I was not wanted and you and others know that to be true. After I booked the flights for my daughter and I the service dates were changed. Thanks for $1000.00 you gave for the services. By the way, why didn't you state this amount in your reply? Frank Daniel Austin's father ....Kenny Austin

I posted this before and it is not showing...I have known Frank for 6 years and he has been at myRead More place about 4 time per week for the last 4 years.
