*Yoga Workshops* Why do more than take classes?

There are many reasons for wanting to do more than just take a yoga class. The challenge lies in choosing the right workshop for you. The insturctor takes much more time preparing for a workshop than a class so that it is comfortable for you and informative. A workshop can present information you hear in Yoga all the time in a new and exciting way, or it can be a related subject that spurs a new interest. You get to know your teacher better and deepen your practice at the same time!

Many studios try to choose workshops that will supplement your regular practice at the studio. Wanting to learn how to do specific postures more successfully? Being able to ask questions of the teacher and learn specifics about alignment and form at the beginning makes you a safer and better practitioner. Perhaps you would like to know more about a specific style of Yoga that is not offered regularly on the schedule or a related subject like Qigong, a workshop is an excellent way to do just that.

Are there postures you see others do or that go buy to fast in a regular class? Workshops are the time to understand the why of Yoga? Why am I doing this posture, what is it doing for me and how do I do it correctly. Being better educated about the details of these postures prevents injuries and allows you to know exactly what the purpose of the postures is.Adding in a few extra hours this month of Yoga by taking a workshop could be the challenge your body needs.

Perhaps you are almost into that balancing posture the way you want but can’t quite get it. Maybe you trying to get those tight hamstrings to finally loosen up a bit more or need some strength in that core. A few extra hours in a workshop this month could be just what you need physically, mentally; emotionally or spiritually to take that leap of growth you’re looking for.

A workshop takes days, months, years of experience for a master teacher to plan and execute. By attending you get to learn from an experienced master teacher about their passions. What is it that lights them up and makes them want to give what they have received to others? Allow them to pour their knowledge, experience and passions into your practice. Take what resonates with you, practice the information, let it affect you and leave what doesn’t work for you behind.
Some instructors teach workshops just to be able to get to know you one on one and give their love of material a new life in you.

Make it a Yoga party: Team up with your friends, family and partners and bring them with you for a unique bonding time at a workshop. Not only will your bond grow closer with those you already know, but you will invariably meet others who share your likes and concerns at a workshop. Take the time, find the subject you’re interested in, and take flight. Namaste!
