Reggae, Cancer Screening Tips and Suicide Prevention

Here are five things happening this week in Laguna Niguel and Dana Point.

Here is a look ahead to events and happenings in Laguna Niguel-Dana Point and Orange County for Monday, Nov. 4.

  1. Roots/rock/reggae band Better Chemistry will perform Thursday at 8 p.m.  at StillWater, 24701 Del Prado, in Dana Point.
  2. About three acres of potential park land south of the PCH/I-5 junction may be sold for housing depending on a Dana Point City Council decision Tuesday.
  3. One in five teens considers suicide and 60 percent know someone who has committed suicide. On Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at Crown Valley Community Park, a representative from suicide specialist Didi Hisrch Mental Health Services will discuss the nature of suicide, risk factors and warning signs.   4. Learn how you can reduce your cancer risk and maintain a commitment to live a healthy life Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Saddleback Memorial's health fair, 24451 Health Center Drive. Learn how to screen for cancer at the right time and with the right test. No registration required.
  5. For $40 you can become CPR certified Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at the YMCA.
