Battle Stories, a New Health Club and an Old Play

Learn about events and happenings this week in Laguna Niguel-Dana Point.

Here is a look ahead to events and happenings in Laguna Niguel-Dana Point and nearby South Orange County from Nov. 11-17, 2013. 

  1. Laguna Niguel will honor veterans Monday at 11 a.m. The public is invited to hear battle stories by area vets at City Hall, 30111 Crown Valley Parkway. Donations will also be collected for the Freedom Committee of Orange County, a group of veterans from World War II, Korea and the Vietnam conflict who tell their stories to local schools.  
  2. Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Laguna Niguel Planning Commission will discuss a 17,000-square-foot health club proposed for the former L.A. Fitness building on Crown Valley. Read the agenda here.
  3. Henrik Ibsen's early feminist classic "A Doll's House" will be performed Nov. 14-16 at the Porthole Theater, 33333 Golden Lantern. Tickets are $15. More info: 949-240-1994, socsarts.org.
  4. A visiting professor will discuss Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor's last novel Wednesday at Saddleback College, 28000 Marguerite Parkway. Grace Davila of Pomona College will also present on Puerto Rico's literature and its influence in the United States from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. in BGS room 325.
