What is Wing Chun?

Wing Chun is a close-quarters fighting system that uses one's own natural body structure to develop power, speed and efficient tools to deal with the reality of violent physical assault. Wing Chun is a very unique and scientific form of martial arts. Wing Chun is a style of Kung Fu that originates from China, the martial art was later refined in Hong Kong. Wing Chun's specialty is in street practical close-quarters combat, using quick punches and low kicks with a tight defense, coordinated through agile stances and efficient footwork for a quick advance. The effectiveness of Wing Chun is achieved by well coordinated attacks with simultaneous defense. Due to its effectiveness in realistic confrontations, it is considered by many self-defense experts as their personal choice of hand-to-hand combat. However, the Wing Chun student must learn to deliver the correct amount of energy, while staying relaxed when possible. A good Wing Chun Sifu (instructor / teacher) will teach the student to overcome force with positioning and footwork rather than meeting it head on. Wing Chun also uses kicks, sweeps, palm strikes, elbows, knees, trapping and grappling control techniques as part of its fighting arsenal. What's more, Wing Chun is also the art that shaped the life, philosophy and personal martial art of Bruce Lee. What Bruce Lee, like other students of Wing Chun, learned is much more than just physical movements. He learned the spiritual essence of the art as well as its deep philosophical teachings. Wing Chun can easily influence every aspect of your life! The concepts and philosophies found through Wing Chun training bring about a new way of looking at life's challenges. From learning how to simplify your life to understanding how to remain calm in a crisis help you to deal with life in whole new way - things you just don't find in other activities!
