VIDEO: Whale Opens Wide, Passengers Say Ahhh

Whale watching in Dana Point took on a much wider perspective earlier in the week. Check out this YouTube and photos by Capt. Dave's Dolphin and Whale Safari of a whale with quite the mouth.

Too bad there wasn't a dentist on board.

Check out this dramatic footage taken Monday that shows whale watching passengers aboard Capt. Dave's Dolphin and Whale Safari out of Dana Point. They are screaming in awe and delight as giant blue whales, the largest animal to inhabit the earth, lunge feed on krill at the surface.

Krill is a tiny shrimp-like crustacean. Blue whales feast every summer on the abundant quantites of krill found in the waters off Orange County.

Watch as passengers and crew look right into the whale's mouth. You will say ahhh, too. The black area you see in front of the open mouth is actually part of the whale's jaw, according to Capt. Dave's crew.
