Local Marines, Happily Working at The Car Wash

The sixth annual The "Meet Your Marines," event raised about $6,000 for the city's adopted 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, at Plaza de La Paz, according to the Laguna Niguel Military Support Committee.

More than 200 cars got squeaky clean thanks to a number of local U.S. Marines and on Saturday.

The committee had an incredible time working alongside 65 young men from the city's adopted at the sixth annual “Meet Your Marines," car wash at Plaza de La Paz.

The Marines raised around $ 6,000, with the help of many residents who are always so supportive of the annual event, said committee member, Carole Allen.

"The committee members heard many positive comments about the Marines and the car wash, and we gratefully received many generous donations from the good people of Laguna Niguel, and surrounding communities," she said.

Every single penny raised will go entirely to the special needs of the 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, and their families.

"We take care of the 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment's families while the U.S. Marines take care of us," she said. "We support their children's parties, family days, new and many other We also had some of the Marines doing face painting on the children, and they loved it."

In another booth there was the "Guns and Hoses Motorcycle Ride." The money raised from the raffle tickets sold will go to the families of fallen police officers and firemen, as well as, the Laguna Niguel Military Support Committee Foundation, Allen said.

They are selling tickets for a chance to win a first prize choice of $15,000 toward a Harley-Davidson motorcycle or $10,000 in cash.

The next car wash will be on Aug. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and held again at the Plaza de La Paz, located at the corner of La Paz Road and Pacific Park Drive. This car wash will benefit the city's adopted sailors aboard the FFG 41 and their families.
