SLIDESHOW: Tall Ships Festival a Rare Treat, Leaves Town

The 28th annual event had everything from pirates and cannons to glorious ships that took you back to another time. The event this past weekend at Dana Point Harbor won't return until next year, but enjoy the photos.

Pirates, cannons, and beautiful ships all came together at the 28th annual Toshiba Tall Ships Festival at Dana Point Harbor over the weekend. The only thing missing? Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow, but there were some look-alikes.

The show was hosted by Toshiba and the , and concluded Sunday evening. If you missed it, you will have to wait until next year.

Watch the video here.

In the meantime, enjoy these colorful photos of all the pomp and circumstance, and true flavor of a bygone era.

As a vendor, not sure if we are doing this show any longer. As long as Doheny Days are at the same time there is no parking for people. The only shuttle signs set up are for Doheny Days at Dana Hills High School. The people I spoke with were not quite sure to pick up the shuttle for Tall Ship. Actually in ther paper, I didn't see it mentioned. (I may have missed it tho) You have baby beach encamped with stand up paddlers, (which a couple are friends of mine) but are parked for hours. This is bad planning, you cant have two major events going at the same time with not enough parking. We used to have a boat in the harbor where they would open up at least half the parking to patrons. Not at this event.. Several vendors are pretty upset. Not allot of foot traffic. Never again
