Registration Open for New Theater Summer Camp in Laguna Niguel

ACT 1- Aliso Children's Theatre will hold their first two-week camp at Laguna Niguel Regional Park in August.

The Laguna Niguel Regional Park will be the scene for a new children’s theater group is looking for participants for their first summer camp.

ACT 1 - Aliso Children’s Theatre will begin a two-week musical theater camp at the Laguna Niguel Regional Park in August. The goal of ACT 1 is to work with the campers to help them develop leadership, public speaking skills, good citizenship and performance skills.

Holly Telford-Rioux created ACT 1 in 2005 as a program for Canyon Vista Elementary School in Aliso Viejo.

“Some of our principles, while at CVES, include casting as many students as we can for each production, providing continuous encouragement and challenges that lead to individual growth, presenting high quality shows that everyone can enjoy and providing a positive environment where performers can practice teamwork and communication skills while experiencing the pride of accomplishment,” said Telford-Rioux.

The summer camp begins Aug. 6, with sessions Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The camp’s final performance will take place Aug. 17 at 4:30 p.m.

Choreographer Donna Smith and vocal coach Araceli Applegate, will accompany Telford-Rioux who will be the camps director.

Telford-Rioux said they are partnering with OC Parks to establish a yearly theater program that will travel to many of the different parks throughout South Orange County.
