Labor Day means the unofficial end of summer – although not the heat, apparently – so Heal the Bay has issued its end-of-summer report card on the health of our beaches. And while Dana Point fared well, San Clemente did not.
After looking at 102 different spots along the Orange County coastline, the organization called out three beaches, Doheny Beach in Capistrano Beach , Poche Beach in San Clemente and Little Corona Beach in Corona Del Mar.
Doheny has cemented a turn for the better.
“This is the third consecutive summer that the historically polluted Doheny Beach has shown improvement with all A grades,” says the report card.
Meanwhile, Poche Beach was the worst, with a “D” grade.
“Poche Beach continues to exhibit poor water quality,” notes the “report card.”
Little Corona Beach earned a C. Orange County’s overall score improved 3 percent with 98 locations earning an A.
