Council Makes Own Record: Holds 14-Minute Meeting
Tuesday's City Council meeting was the shortest on record, according to City Manager, Tim Casey.
There is speed dating, but what about a speedy council meeting?
It's probably safe to say that residents are spending more time sitting in than the time our City Council spent at its Tuesday night meeting.
The City Council met for a whopping 14 minutes at , the shortest on record, said City Manager Tim Casey, on Wednesday.

"With the Olympics on TV and two council members out, I think we set our own record," laughed Casey.
He said was not present due to a family issue, and Councilwoman, Linda Lindholm, is on vacation. In addition, the local bishop, who gives the invocation regularly didn't show.

"Mayor Pro Tem, Joe Brown sort of gave his own version," Casey said. "Also, there were no ceremonies, or presentations to give out to adults or youth groups for their great accomplishments."
He added that there were 12 items of business for consent on the calendar, and Councilman Robert Ming pulled two of those items to discuss.
"He just had a few short questions and then we moved to approve," Casey said. "That took less than 12 minutes and another two minutes were devoted to staff and other reports."
Brown pounded the gavel at 7:14 p.m. to end the meeting.
Prior to Tuesday night's short meeting, Casey said the record for the shortest City Council meeting was at least 5 years ago and that was a "big 17 minutes."
