Cool Off With a Free Slurpee Today at 7-Eleven

Enjoy a cold slushie at local stores all day to help celebrate the chain's 85th anniversary.

Can you think of anything better than a cold Slurpee to chase away the summer heat? How about a free one.

From 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, 7-Eleven convenience stores including the location at ., will be giving away free Slurpees, the chain's signature frozen slushie drink available in a variety of flavors.

While Laguna Niguel might only have one location, Dana Point has none. However, California has more 7-Eleven stores than any other state–about 1,200, according to its website.

What's the catch for the freebie? Nothing, just show up and choose your flavor, get a free 7.11-ounce drink on the house to help celebrate its 85th anniversary. They call it "Happy 7-Eleven Day."

“7-Eleven Day, or free Slurpee Day, gets bigger and more popular every year,” said Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven president and chief executive officer in a statement.

This year the stores expect to give away 7 million slurpees, beating its last year's offer by 2 million, DePinto said.

In addition to its usual flavors, customers will get try out the stores' new Slurpee Lite, and seasonal Fanta Sugar-Free Strawberry Banana and Fanta Lemon Crème (only 64 calories).

The chain has celebrated its birthday on July 11 for decades, but it wasn’t until its 75th birthday in 2002 that stores began distributing free Slurpee drinks to customers, according to the company.
