Catfish Are Jumping at Laguna Niguel Lake

Austin Aguas, 14, of Laguna Niguel, caught a 9-1/2-pounds catfish fly lining a night crawler at the inlet by the flats.

Limits on crappie are being caught within an hour using night crawlers, meal worms and Lip Ripperz Fruit Cocktail 1/32 ounce jigs.
Hot spots are the boat docks and various locations surrounding the aerators and Bass Island.

Large Mouth Bass are being caught by the dozens using a 5-1/2: curly tail Roboworm: Texas Rig, Aaron’s Magic and Purple Punisher, have been the colors this week.
Fly lining a night crawler has also been reeling in Bass in the 1 to 3-pound range.
Schools of bass in the 6 to 8-pound range have been spotted near the algae blooms surrounding zone 1, zone 2 and the dock areas.
Bluegill are easily caught using half a night crawler and a tiny split shot.
Catfish have been biting on a fly lined night crawler near 3 pipes, the inlet and the flats.
Chumming mackerel and chicken livers is also producing catfish 6 to 10 pounds on the average.
