New Look For Dodger Stadium

New outfield video screens, expanded restrooms, widened concourses and a wi-fi network are among the upgrades that will greet fans at Dodger Stadium this season, team officials announced Tuesday.

"The mission of Dodger ownership is to create ways to enhance the experience for all of our fans," Dodger President/CEO Stan Kasten said. "Dodger Stadium is a treasured piece of the Los Angeles community and we will respect that heritage while restoring and enhancing the venue for our fans in the 21st century.

"When the improvements are completed, the stadium will retain its classic look, but it will have a more comfortable feel," he said.

According to the team, a new sound system will be installed, designed to minimize echoes. New video screens will be installed in left and right field, giving the team the first 10mm, 1080p LED displays in Major League Baseball, according to the Dodgers.

Between two and four rows of seats will be removed from sections on all levels of the ballpark to provide more walking space on concourses, along with more wheelchair seating and "drink rails" for fans roaming the stadium.

Restrooms will be expanded on the loge, reserve and upper reserve levels, adding about 62 percent more fixtures for women and 32 percent for men. Family restrooms will be install on all levels, while outfield restrooms will be moved under the pavilions.

A wi-fi system will be installed for the benefit of smartphone-toting fans and media, along with a cellular antenna system.

Playground areas for children will be installed in the pavilion and reserve levels.

For the players, the clubhouses will roughly double in size, and a batting cage will be installed for visiting teams.
