DANA HILLS TENNIS COASTAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012
The Dana Hills Lady Dolphins, the reigning CIF-SS Division 1 Champions, were seeded number 1 and the University Lady Trojans, CIF-SS Division 1 Finalists, were seeded number 2, and after two days of tough tennis were again facing each other in the finals.  Fourteen teams, from as far away as Hawaii, participated in the Coastal Championships this year.  Dana Hills crushed Palos Verdes in their first round 8-0 and in the semi finals on Saturday morning cruised past San Marino 6-2 and then got prepared to face University in the finals.  Finals started with doubles and Dana Hills number one team of Alyssa Smith-Margo Pletcher and number two team of Jessica Perez-Cassidy Spearman came up with wins, but number three team of AJ Gomer-Rebecca Gold were defeated. The five singles matches began with both teams hungry for the win.  Dana's number 2 singles player, Jessica Perez came up with the first win just as number 3 singles player Cassidy Spearman had to default due to injury bringing the score to 3-2;  as Dana's number 5 singles player Rebecca Gold came up with a win and number 4 player AJ Gomer was defeated in a tight loss the score was 4-3 advantage Dana Hills.  Dana's number 1 singles player Alyssa Smith was battling against University's number 1 player Kaiulani Boyer and the score was 5-6, advantage Boyer.  As the player's changed sides Dana's Alyssa Smith looked ready to dig deep and that she did, coming up with the next 3 games and taking the final deciding match 8-6 and giving the Lady Dolphins another Championship.
