A Big Catch at Laguna Niguel Lake

The weather continues to shine down on fishermen who are reeling in some pretty big catches.

Jim Thorpe of Laguna Woods proudly shows off his 9-pound, 10-ounce trout he caught at recently. He used a drop shot power worm in Zone 3 via float tube.

According to co-owner of Rick Mendoza, co-owner of Rip 'n Lips, the company that rents fishing equipment, boats and more at the lake, boats and float tubers continue catching good numbers of trout in deeper water.

"Trout have moved from the flats to the other side of the big island towards the dam searching for cooler water. Fly-fishing picked up last week, as trout were eager to chew on the bead head midges," he said.
