About 100 feet from the finish line at the Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling Sunday, 10 cyclists collided, injuring five women, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

The accident occurred about 1:30 p.m  at Del Prado and Violet Lantern. The worst of the injuries was a 50-year-old who suffered a head injury, said Capt. Steve Concialdi. She was determined to be in serious condition.

A 34-year-old woman had moderate injuries to the back, leg and arm and a 37-year-old had minor injuries, bumps, scrapes and bruises, Concialdi said.

All three were transported to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, he said. Two others were injured but declined further treatment and finished the race.
