Hidden Hills 4th Graders Getting Chromebooks

Fourth Graders Will Use Chromebooks

Fourth-graders at Hidden Hills Elementary will be some of the first to try Chromebooks in the classroom.

Under the pilot program, the students will use their computers throughout the school day. After they're home, students can sign into accounts to let them continue learning from home.

Chromebooks are personal computers that use Google's Chrome operating system (as opposed to Windows, for example.) They are designed to run software from websites, rather than store programs on the machines themselves.

Google has focused on the education market with their Chromebooks, offering incentives to school districts that use the machines. A Google executive said more than one in five U.S. school districts uses Chromebooks as of October.
