State Exposes Laguna Niguel Tax Delinquent

The Franchise Tax Board says Daniel M. Young of Laguna Niguel owes over $300,000 in state income tax.

Just in time for tax day, the state has issued a list of the 500 people who owe the most in state income tax.

Daniel M. Young of Laguna Niguel made the list..

According to the Franchise Tax Board, Young owes $344,197.24 in state income tax.

A lien was filed on Young on Jan. 13, 2010.

Other offenders include Thuan D. and Susie T. Phan of Dana Point. The couple owe $154,843 to the state, according to the FTB, and have had a tax lien against them since Dec. 3, 2008.

Last year the legislature gave the FTB more power and required them to publish more tax delinquents twice a year. The boards new powers include the ability to request that other states help collect California's income tax debts.

The board can now release the professions and professional license numbers of tax delinquents, too.
