Protesters to Crash Dana Point Assemblywoman's Holiday Party

Assemblywoman Diane Harkey (R-Dana Point) is throwing a holiday bash Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Norm Reeves Acura of Mission Viejo, 28802 Marguerite Parkway. But her announcement may have attracted a few unwanted guests.

OC Weekly reports that protesters plan to disrupt the holiday party.

Harkey's husband Dan Harkey, accused of running a Ponzi-style investment scheme involving elder financial abuse and slush funds, was ordered by a jury last July to pay victims $10 million. He has argued that he does not have the money to pay, and that he is $2 million in debt himself.

Some of those burned by Dan Harkey's Point Center Financial Inc. bankruptcy plan to crash the politician's soiree.

Now that she is termed out as an assemblywoman, the former Dana Point mayor is running for the state Board of Equalization.
