'Lights, Cameras, Action': Dana Hills High Looked a Lot Like a Movie Set on Saturday

The Emergency Preparedness Expo rolled into town Saturday, complete with helicopters, mock rescues and more.

The Emergency Preparedness Expo attracted more than 300 people to  Saturday for the annual event that features dozens of exhibitors and vehicle displays. Sponsored by Southern California Edison, visitors learned how to protect themselves and their families in an emergency situation.

Guests also learned helpful tips and information from public safety agencies, utilities, community groups, vendors, and more.

From helicopters to cops on horseback, the high school grounds looked more like a Hollywood movie set rather than a place where students will return to classes on Wed., Sept. 7. The school is home to 3,000 students from Laguna Niguel and Dana Point.

The only thing missing was an action hero! However, pilot Jim Davidson was flying overhead in one of the helicopters. He told Laguna Niguel resident and Laguna Niguel Patch photographer, Barton Mac Leod, that he also practices his manuevers over  on a regular basis, scooping up water to put out fires.

The free expo was also sponsored by city of Dana Point Emergency Services.

"It reminded me of the days when I worked with in The Green Berets movie but the choppers were Huey helicopters," Mac Leod said.
