POLL: Crown Valley Pool Earns Top Spot to Take a Plunge

"Parenting OC" magazine readers recently named the pool as the best public pool in South Orange County.

Did you know we have one of the best community pools in South County?

The Crown Valley Community Pool recently received the 2011 Readers’ Choice Award for the Best Public Pool in South Orange County from the readers of Parenting OC.

According to the magazine, the pool was rated the best among readers for many reasons: it is always well maintained and constantly heated at a comfortable 81 degrees. Consisting of a main pool, a Fitness, Instructional, Training (FIT) Pool and a 10-person spa, there is an option for every type of swimmer. It has a reasonable daily entrance fee and annual passes are also available.

Aquatic supervisor Tina Dittmar said, “We are thrilled that the readers of Parenting OC recognized Crown Valley Community Pool as the best in South Orange county! … Crown Valley Pool is an affordable place, close to home, for mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and the kids to go together and have some good clean family fun."

What also makes the FIT pool different from the main pool is that the city keeps it warmer—between 85 and 88 degrees—so it is a very comfortable place to learn, Dittmar said.

In an earlier story about the pool in Laguna Niguel Patch, Dittmar said, “We are very excited about the new FIT pool and hope our residents find a class that interests them so they can discover one of Laguna Niguel’s hidden gems. I think the pool is the sapphire,” she said.

The Fitness Instructional Training pool was renovated and updated at a cost of $291,532 last February. The main and FIT pools are adjacent to each other within Crown Valley Community Park.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 1 to 4 p.m and on weekends, noon to 5 p.m. Daily admission is $2.50 for adults and $2 for children for the main pool.
