Construction on City Hall Reaches Milestone

The building's next phase is stucco and roofing.

The Laguna Niguel City Hall construction project has reached another milestone, according to Dan Fox, community development director.

The exterior of the building is now substantially wrapped in sheathing, building paper and wire lath.  The interior metal stud framing and the rough mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are also nearing completion.

The next major phase includes the installation of the stucco and plaster on the exterior walls and completion of the roof.

During this time, the installation of drywall and insulation on the interior walls will also be under way.

The following is the anticipated construction activity for the week of Feb. 14-18:

  • Begin exterior plaster on south section.
  • Continue installation of pre-cast trim at the arcade arches.
  • Continue work on roof and eaves.
  • Prepare for the forecasted rain.

The new building is slated to open in late August.
