City Council Agenda: Are Speed Bumps on Adelanto Drive Worth Keeping?

It's time for the six-month review of the Adelanto Drive speed bumps. Will the City Council decide to keep them, or remove them as residents in the surrounding area have requested?

The Laguna Niguel City Council will be conducting its one-year follow-up review of the new Adelanto Drive speed bumps at tonight's City Council meeting.

Six months ago, the council reviewed several angry e-mails from residents over the new speed bumps on Adelanto Drive, a main street off of Crown Valley Parkway.

Residents requested that speed bumps on Adelanto—which might have had the result of increasing traffic on Monte Verde Drive—be removed altogether.

According to City engineer Dave Rogers, the speed bumps did reduce speeding on the road for the first couple of months after they were installed, but his last report six months ago saw a return to speeding in the area.

Rogers speculated that it could be because residents may be crossing to the center line in order to bypass the bumps.
