City Continues Funding for Trauma Intervention Program

The City Council approves funding for the trauma program, continues contracting with the Sheriff's Department and honors the finance director.

All items on the agenda were approved during a routine City Council meeting Tuesday night.  Among them:

  • Funding for the 2011-12 Trauma Intervention program. The program is composed of volunteers trained to assist with the emotional recovery of victims of traumatic incidents. According to City manager Tim Casey, the funding for the program amounts to about $7,000 per year.
  • Adoption of the capital improvement program for the years 2011-12 through 2017-18 to comply with Measure M requirements, keeping the city qualified for such transportation funding.
  • The 2011-12 law enforcement agreement with the county. The city uses the Orange County Sheriff's Department on a yearly contract basis.
  • Agreement with All City Management Services to provide crossing guard services for fiscal year 2011-12.

In other business, the City Council presented the outgoing Youth Committee members with plaques to honor their service.

It also commended Finance Director Cheryl Dyas for her years of service to the city. She is leaving to become Mission Viejo's director of administrative services. Dyas has been with the city of Laguna Niguel since 2002.
