Council Closes The Books On City Hall Project

The construction company was awarded a $60K bonus for doing a job well done.

The City Council closed out the bill on construction of the new City Hall and awarded C.W. Driver a bonus for its performance as manager of the project on Tuesday night.

According to the staff report for the close out of the project's Capital Improvement Account, the award was based on the following performance goals:

  • The total amount of the change orders from all trade contracts being less than three percent of the total amount of initial bids for each of the trade contracts.
  • The accuracy of the final project cost estimates compared to the total final construction costs for the project.
  • Completion of construction by July 14, 2011; and
  • Superior performance of all the services required by the construction agreement.

The overall project, which had an allocated budget of $31,374,000, was completed for approximately $28,871,000—roughly $2.5 million under budget. The left over funds will be re-appropriated to:

  • The $60,000 award to C.W. Driver.
  • $150,000 to maintain in the City Hall CIP Account to cover outstanding bills and future capital outlay expenses.
  • $40,000 to the general overhead insurance account to cover earthquake insurance premiums for the new City Hall.
  • $10,000 to the general overhead City Hall lease account to cover final rent for the former City Hall.
  • $30,000 to general overhead phones capital outlay account to cover the account deficit for the new citywide telephone system.
  • $1 million to the Public Improvement Account
  • $1,213,000 to reserve for capital asset and infrastructure replacement to increase the reserve for future capital improvement/replacement projects.

The City Council also:

  • Approved the managed hosting services agreement with UNIT 4 Business Software.
  • Approved the selection of RJM Design Group for design of the Crown Valley Parkway Medians Project, at a cost of $28,900.
  • Approved a two-year extension agreement with Age Well Senior Services for senior transportation services.

The City Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the  at City Hall, 30111 Crown Valley Pkwy.
