Assemblywoman Diane Harkey Named Vice Chair of Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee

Harkey will begin the position at the next hearing and continue her role as Vice Chair of the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez announced Thursday Assemblywoman Diane Harkey will now be Vice Chair of the Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee. Harkey will begin the position at the next hearing and continue her role as Vice Chair of the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

“I am honored the Speaker chose me for this assignment, which will allow me to further use my understanding of the tax code to encourage debate and affect policies impacting Californians. With the state’s unusually high unemployment, tax policy can affect whether or not employers chose to hire and expand in California.”

The Revenue and Taxation Committee hears all issues concerning taxation for the State.  Coupled with her role as Vice Chair on the Assembly Appropriations Committee and as a vocal member on all Assembly financial committees, Ms. Harkey will play a strong role in shaping the debate on California’s financial future.
