UPDATE: Husband Freed After Shooting Death of Wife, Officials Say

Johanah Wade, 24, was killed by a single shot early Friday at a Laguna Niguel apartment complex. Her husband was released after questioning and the case remains under investigation.

Sheriff's deputies were investigating the shooting death of a 24-year-old woman in Laguna Niguel early Friday.

At 1:25 a.m., the 25-year-old husband of Johanah Wade, a Laguna Niguel dental assistant, called authorities from the Niguel Summit apartment complex in the 30000 block of Pacific Island Drive, said Sheriff's Lt. Joe Balicki.

The husband was questioned and released as investigators try to determine whether the shooting was an accident or murder, said Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino. Deputies were executing a search warrant at the home Friday morning.

After the shooting, paramedics rushed Wade to Mission Hospital, where she was pronounced dead from a single gunshot wound, officials said.

There was no history of domestic violence calls involving the couple, Amormino said, nor were there any calls from neighbors about any commotion before the shooting.
