Woman, 87, Crashes into City Hall

Damage could total $10,000 after Chrysler rolls up an embankment and hits the building Tuesday morning.

Laguna Niguel's brand new already needs some fixing after an 87-year-old woman smashed into the back of the building Tuesday morning.

The collision occurred after the woman's Chrysler was in a two-car crash with a 20-year-old man in a Saturn at the intersection of Alicia and Town Center Drive around 10:11 a.m., according to Lt. Jim England of the O.C. Sheriff's Department.

"We don't know if she panicked or not, but somehow she ended up a slope and hit the wall behind s," he said. "She clipped the corner of the building, and caused some structural damage."

The woman was later taken to an area hospital for minor injuries. The other driver was unhurt, England said.

Public Works Director Dave Rogers said the damage "won't be cheap or easy to fix."

He estimated the cost of repairs would run $5,000 to $10,000.

"She did some damage to the stucco, and it will take some time to repair," he said. "There are steel plates and some plaster that was damaged."

Ok, since Friday the elderly are out playing bumper cars & running into bulidings that are up on a hill. They can do tricks no one ever thought possible. It's time for everyone to secure everything around them, there is an elderly epidemic in Laguna Niguel. WHat will be next? Insurance companies dealy love these people.

@Shirl: Lots of weird stuff going on .. is because of Mercury Retrograde?

Sad, very sad.

Debbie, I don't think Mercury Retrograde has anything to do with it. Personally, these people need to allow their caregivers to do the driving. They could even make a game of it & pretend they are Miss Daisy, it's really safer than the Roulette they are playing. It probably could save lives.

It's a little bit of merc retro with a bit of Uranus thrown into the mix.... watch not only Gramma and Grampa and the kids tonight but the critters also!

I witnessed the accident and it was one of the most bizarre and scary things I've ever seen and nearly been involved in! I didn't realize the woman was 87 but maybe that explains a lot.
